Yes, we are grossly behind on our blog/pics, etc…like 4 countries behind. But here are some pictures from Laos, where we took a boat for 2 days down the Mekong River to Luang Prabang, then onto tubing and river fun at Vang Vieng before ending in the capital of Vientiane. Better late than never. Enjoy!
We rented a motorcycle/scooter for the day for about $4. I must admit I was a little nervous because the roads in Laos seem to have a lot of gravel. And lets just say me and gravel have a challenging relationship (i.e see post about motorcycle accident in Goa). Anyways, we set off for the […]
We set out on a 2-day slow boat down the Mighty Mekong River into Luang Prabang, Laos. The day quickly reminded us of how it feels to be traveling in a third world country again. The immigration lines were unruly and chaotic. Another third world reminder is transportation–it almost always boils down to transportation. It […]
Ryan and I shook on a new pact we made with each other today…that we will never be older than the number of countries we’ve visited. Unless we live to be 200 years old, we should always have somewhere new to explore. On this trip we will have visited 34 countries. We can only add […]
Two days in Chiang Rai, two interesting sites. One on the north side of Chiang Rai, the other on the south side. One dark, one light. Although, in reality, it wasn’t quite that black and white. Beyond their monochromatic symbology, both are more complex and nuanced than their names suggest. […]
I haven’t operated a motor vehicle in 15 months. The last time I was responsible for anything motorized resulted in an Enfield motorcycle laying on its side in the middle of a Goan road and Heidi and I bleeding in the ditch. Besides a couple of short trips when we were back in the States, […]

We arrived back in Sandakan yesterday from the Kinabatangan River. We spent 3 days and 2 nights at The Nature Lodge, which was efficiently run and allowed us to see a bit of the Bornean jungle and wildlife in a variety of ways- from the river aboard a boat, on a hike to a nearby […]

We really like Singapore! It’s a fabulous walking city filled with new and old, a sublime mixture of ultra-modern architecture and traditional shophouses, and everything is clean. Although it has a reputation for its extreme oversight (such as fines for not flushing public toilets and not selling chewing gum), it doesn’t at all have […]
